Custodian

PURPOSE

The primary purpose of the Custodian is to maintain a safe and clean environment at Bear Hills Casino.  The key role would be to upkeep the cleanliness of the gaming floor, all washrooms, bar, restaurant, and staff areas to a high standard.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Keep cleaning areas always tidy and cleaning materials safely stored

  • Maintain polite and good communication with coworkers and customers at all times

  • Follow all Bear Hills Casino Safety and Security Policies & Procedures, report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents or injuries, complete safety training and certifications; properly store flammable materials

  • Customer service excellence

  • Sanitize slot machines

  • Wipe chairs at machines

  • Clean and sanitize washrooms on gaming floor and in the lounge.  Including: scrubbing all toilets and urinals, wipe washroom counters, sinks, mirrors, and mirror frames, walls around sink area, under the hand dryers, locks on doors, toilet paper and paper towel dispensers

  • Sweep and mop washroom floors

  • Maintain parking lot, including garbage pickup

  • Re-stock toilet paper, soap in dispensers, paper towels, feminine hygiene products/bags, urinal pucks, etc.

  • Throughout day clean “touch points” on slot machines

  • Throughout day clean ledges, counters, surfaces around slot machines

  • Clean staff areas and offices, vacuum when needed, wipe down surfaces

  • Empty and wipe down all garbage cans in the facility

  • Clean all the glass on the gaming floor and doors and windows

  • Wipe and dust walls and ceilings when needed

  • Take direction from Management/Supervisors when called upon

IMPACT OF ACTION

The Custodian has a direct impact on the ability to provide Bear Hills Casino guests, staff, and management with a safe and suitable environment in which to visit and/or work.

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

The position requires the ability to communicate clearly, deal tactfully and work effectively with Bear Hills Casino staff and management. The incumbent in this position will provide important cleaning services for Bear Hills Casino and departments.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Customer service skills

  • Able to work as a part of a team

  • Able to work with little supervision

  • Ability to work calmly under pressure

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions and physical capabilities, fast-paced environment, repetitive tasks, physically demanding, attention to detail, combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, must be able to lift/carry up to 30 lbs.  Must tolerate working in a smoking environment.
