Job Summary: The Finance & Human Resources Specialist is responsible for supporting both the financial operations and human resource functions of Bear Hills Casino & Travel Resort. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, payroll processing, regulatory compliance, and effective HR practices that contribute to a well-organized and supportive workplace environment.
Finance Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and daily journal entries for Slots and Countroom Departments.
Monitor Slots and Countroom Departments daily reports.
Address discrepancies and coordinate with vendors or departments to resolve issues.
Help prepare monthly and annual financial statements and reports for submission to the Finance Controller.
Process accounts payable and receivable, and payroll for Bear Hills Casino & Travel Resort.
Support audits and ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls.
Human Resources Responsibilities:
Coordinate recruitment efforts, perform background check, do profiling, initial and final interviews.
Maintain employee files and HR information in ADP for Bear Hills Casino & Travel Resort employees.
Track coaching and discipline forms following the progressive disciplinary action policy setup for Bear Hills Casino & Travel Resort employees.
Ensure compliance with Alberta Employment Standards and health & safety regulations.
Process benefits administration and leave tracking.
Process termination of employees and their ROEs.
Support employee engagement and training initiatives.
Provide guidance on HR policies and handle basic employee relation matters.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related experience/field preferred.
Proven experience in both Finance and HR functions, including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and benefits administration.
Familiarity with ADP systems and maintaining accurate HR and financial records.
Strong understanding of Alberta Employment Standards, AGLC regulations, and anti-money laundering policies.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
Must be eligible for AGLC Gaming Worker Registration and willing to complete required certifications (e.g., Anti-Money Laundering).
Availability for flexible work hours, including evening shifts aligned with casino events.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.
